What to Expect at a Class

About the classes

The meditation classes explain Buddhist meditation, ideas and practice. They combine guided meditation with practical spiritual advice that you can apply immediately to relieve stress and solve problems in your life.

Everyone is welcome. The classes are suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators. You do not need to be a Buddhist to attend the classes, or to benefit from the techniques taught.

Most classes are organized as short courses, usually 4 to 6 weeks long. It is best to attend complete courses, but you can attend occasionally if you prefer. The classes are easy to follow and do not need prior knowledge or experience.

Class format

The teacher will teach you how to meditate and will give practical guidance during the class. He or she will give a talk based on Buddha's teachings that will explain how to put meditation into practice in daily life to increase your own and others happiness. There will be a chance to ask questions, and after the class there will be light refreshments and the opportunity to talk to the teacher. These weekly classes are part of our General Program, and are open to everyone. We also offer more advanced Kadampa Buddhist Study Programs - the Foundation Program and the Teacher Training Program - for people who would like to progress to deeper and more extensive study and practice.

What do I need to do to attend?

Simply find a meditation class in our schedule that suits you. You do not need to register in advance. You can dress comfortably in casual clothes, all that we ask is that you remove your shoes when entering the meditation room if possible. If you would like more information or help, please contact us.
